What is Sindhusagar?

The world needs voices that tell original stories that carry the unbroken thread of our ancestors without dilution, yet speak with genuine global resonance. Sindhusagar is that voice, expressed through photography, writing, and short-form video.

​

The Nayikas of the past return here  awakened with fierce, sensual, and mature Shakti. Women who were never given a voice, yet left their marks in folk tales and passed them quietly to the next generation. Women of the forest, the village, the grassland, the desert, the coastal town, the ancient city  who lived with resilience and grace, and because of whom the world still thrives. This is a tribute to all of them, through the work of Raginee and Yogesh.

Our foundation is the poetry of the masters, the grace carved into ancient temple stone, the sixteen Shringaras, Kama Sutra, and everything that breathes beyond them. A decade of deep study of the Nayika tradition, more than two decades of travel across India documenting real human lives, living heritage, and biodiversity  and countless hours of discussion  have shaped what this project has become.

And so Sindhusagar was born. A tribute to India's sacred seven rivers the rivers that shaped our civilisation. The Nayika, embodied by Raginee, is photographed and filmed in remote, beautiful, and demanding terrain: fusing the spirit of each river with her sensual beauty, her nurturing grace, and the dangerous wildness that also belongs to her. The work extends further to the coastal world  stormy oceans, ancient beaches, monsoon rain where river meets sea.

Sindhusagar is a visual and philosophical experience in images, words, and moving image. Nayika and river are inseparable here. Through Raginee, adorned in traditional fashion that is both deeply rooted and globally legible, the project celebrates the creative and sensual energy of the feminine spirit Shakti  and the living rivers of India. It is an adventure that holds beauty, the past, the present, and the hope carried forward.

Because life, like the river, is always moving. It changes its course. It floods and recedes. And in all that drama, it transforms countless lives. This project is a celebration of that spirit  Shakti reclaimed through beauty, sensuality, philosophy, and a fierce love for the land.
