Photography is the younger sibling of sculpture and painting. What the eyes have seen, what stirred the heart, what awakened a feeling, all of it is captured through this medium, woven together with science and art.

It is an art that dares to challenge the time itself. Born barely two hundred years ago, from humanity’s longing to preserve something unchanged in an ever-changing world.

Once in the hands of the elite, photography bloomed as it reached ordinary people. Some used it for art, some for business, some for pure entertainment… but in every hand, it became wings for imagination.A camera that is a strange little box that traps light, embraces shadow, and births patterns of radiance.

In the beginning, I photographed whatever appeared before me: trees, flowers, mountains. From the Sahyadris to the Himalayas, this passion carried me through life’s journey. Fashion opened a doorway to bring inner visions into form; newspapers and magazines tied me to truth and the present moment.

Then came Raginee. Through her I created images that became timeless: initially dresses then sarees and nine-yards, heroines from ancient times reborn. In this journey, photography shaped both of us. My love for books, the heroines from the folklores, and long conversations with her became our teachers and guides. She before the lens, I behind it — together, art, creativity, science, and technique merged so deeply that the camera itself dissolved.

What remained was a meeting of imagination and truth and in that meeting, we found photography.

Photography became a medium that spoke what words could not.Through form, I could touch the formless. Through her presence, many lives were lived. That is why the camera never felt like just a tool to me  but a companion. It shows me only what I truly wish to see, erasing all distractions. For a moment, imagination takes form as reality. Countless sleepless nights, long travels, and journeys through the dark corners of the mind there, in that darkness, a single ray of light was born.

Perhaps, just as sculptors once saw gods, nymphs, and warriors in the humans around them, I too was gifted with the freedom to see heroines within the people and dreams around me, and to manifest them through Ragini.

This art has given me abundance. It opened doors to travel, to experiences, to the richness of humanity. It showed me both kindness and cruelty, taught me to look at people with compassion. It gave me the wonder to look at nature endlessly, the same sea, the same mountain, the same tree  always appearing new, always offering a lesson.

Photography brought me closer to myself. To those who say “the world is only this way,” I could show that the world can also be otherwise. For a moment, I became the creator of my own universe. And in the blink of the fastest traveler in the cosmos  light itself  I gave a brief rest, catching it on the dark canvas of a photograph.
